01How the club began
The garden is no longer only ours
The Honey Garden was born from a simple idea: to give one part of the city back to nature. That where there used to be concrete and waste, plants should grow again, bees should hum, children should come, and people should learn how much the nature around us matters.
In time we realised the Garden was no longer only ours. A community had gathered around it, people who share the same values and want a greener city, more room for nature and a better future for pollinators.
It is because of them that we founded the Friends of the Honey Garden.
02What the club does
A community that does not just watch change happen
The club brings together people who want to make a concrete shift together with us. We want to teach children and adults about bees, pollinators and biodiversity, to launch planting and greening actions and to create new places for nature in the city.
But we want more than that: to launch initiatives that can change the way the city thinks about green spaces, the choice of plants and the protection of pollinators. So that one day the good ideas from the Honey Garden become good practice across the city.
03Why a community
One bee cannot do what a hive can
A bee colony reminds us of something we often forget: great things rarely come from a single individual. They come when many of us pull in the same direction.
That is how we imagine the Friends club too. Someone will come to a planting action, someone will bring a child to a workshop, someone will share our initiative, propose a new idea or help it reach the right people.
We do not all have to contribute in the same way. What matters is that there are more and more of us who want the same thing.
04Beyond the garden
Let us make a city that hums more
Our wish is for the club to grow far beyond the Honey Garden. For us to plant, learn and launch initiatives together, and to show that there is room in the city both for people and for nature. Membership is free, and members will be the first to hear about our actions, events and chances to get involved.
