Our projects
What we started, and what stayed in the city
Part of the work happens in the Honey Garden, part of it outside. The Hive of Knowledge carries a glass hive into kindergartens and schools. Urban beekeeping keeps hives where nobody expects them, and the planting leaves forage behind after the action is over.
01Our largest project
The Hive of Knowledge: the bees go into the kindergarten and the school
A group that cannot come to the garden does not have to travel anywhere. The glass hive, the comb and the gear go to them, and the whole colony stays behind the glass and carries on with its work.
The children look through the glass for the queen among the workers. The questions start on their own from there, and a bee stops being the thing that stings.
A kindergarten or a school sends an application, and a company can cover the cost through CSR. One project, two different ways in.

02The other projects
What we do outside the classroom
Hives in the city and planting go together, because a colony needs forage within a few kilometres of the entrance.

In the city
Urban beekeeping
Hives stand on roofs and between buildings, where nobody looks for them. From there a worker travels up to three kilometres for forage, so half the neighbourhood is hers.

Forage
Planting and biodiversity
Planting nectar trees and flowers, and meadows deliberately left unmown. A colony with nothing in flower has nothing to do, so the plants get counted just like the hives.

A worker travels three kilometres from the hive.Everything inside that circle is her forage.
03So far
What stands behind these projects
We count what has actually been done. The rest we do not promise in advance.
- 45 bee colonieslive in the Honey Garden, behind Dom kulture Silosi on the Danube bank
- 5,200 plantshave gone into the ground, in the garden and in planting actions across the city
- 78 workshopshave been held so far, with children, families and teams
- A hive that travelsthe glass hive goes into a kindergarten or a school when the group cannot come to the garden
04Partnerships
Who these projects were made with
A project rarely fits into one pair of hands. These are the companies, embassies and institutions we have worked with, or who have been in the garden.
05Next step
„Because one bee cannot do what a hive can.”
A kindergarten or a school signs up for the Hive of Knowledge. A company comes in through CSR. An individual joins the Friends of the Honey Garden, free of charge.
